Rare Staffordshire American pit bull terrier tabacco jar & cover
Victorian, circa 1860. 6.1ins high, 6.3ins wide, 4.3ins depth. Staffordshire tobacco jar and cover which features an American pit bull terrier head, resting on a circular base.
Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.

CONDITION: Cover: Generally good. KILN EFFECTS: over glazed shrinkage line to the underside;
a few specks of kiln grit caught in the glaze.
RESTORATION. Filled chips to ears and to both rims.
Stabilised and retouched hairline.
Jar: Good. No restoration. A few tiny paint losses to muzzle.
Bruise to base edge.
KILN EFFECTS: a few specks of kiln detritus caught in the glaze.
