Pair Staffordshire recumbent spaniel with pup figures

Victorian, circa 1850. Tallest is 4.6ins high, 5.2ins wide, 2.4ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire figures which feature a recumbent spaniel, with her pup seated beside her,
stood on a shaped hollow base.



Dull gilt base line.



Flatback, decorated mainly to the front.

CONDITION: Right facing: Generally good.

Some paint losses to russet markings.







Rubbing to gilt.



KILN EFFECTS: flecks of stray blue glaze;





kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the upper base.



RESTORATION: stabilised and retouched crack to side of base.





Left facing: Generally good.

Some paint losses to russet markings.





KILN EFFECTS: staining to underside,



rear and upper base;





shrinkage line across dog's front right leg;




flecks of stray blue glaze.
