Staffordshire Pearlware Diana huntress figure

pre-Victorian, circa 1820. 11.4ins high, 3.9ins wide, 3.7ins depth.

Staffordshire pearlware figure with a mythological theme which features Diana, pulling an arrow from her quiver, stood on a square base.



Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.



Vent hole to the underside.



This piece represents Diana - the Roman goddess of the hunt, the moon and birthing.

Condition

Fair. Small chip to underside base edge.



Flaking to base and end of bow.







Tiny flake to headdress and hem of sash.





Some small paint losses to dress, sash and quiver.







Some wear to base.



RESTORATION. Diana reglued to base around ankles and join retouched.







Head reglued and join retouched.



Stabilised and retouched hairline above right elbow,



left shoulder and side of dress.





Filled chip to nose.



Retouched paint losses to hair, dress and ground.











Remodelled flower petals.



Retouched flake to sash, bow and quiver.
