Pair Staffordshire spaniel spill vases

Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 13.5ins high, 7.5ins wide, 3.8ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire spill vases which feature a spaniel, seated on an oval base.





White and gilt version. Dull gilt base line and embellishment. Decorated mainly to the front.

Condition

CONDITION: Right facing: Generally good. Some paint losses to the ground.





Very slight rubbing to gilt.





Slight wear to front and reverse.





KILN EFFECTS: firing pit to front;



over glazed chip to base edge.



RESTORATION: stabilised and retouched cracks to spill branch and rim.





Left facing: Generally good. Bruise to spill rim.



Some small flakes to ground, spill branch, spaniel's tail and right ear.









A few paint losses to the ground and spill.







Slight rubbing to gilt.







KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage crack to front left leg;



firing pit to front left leg.



RESTORATION: retouched flake to spaniel's chest;



stabilised and retouched crack to spill rim.
