Staffordshire Jackfield hen on nest tureen
Victorian, circa 1860. 6.1ins high, 7.2ins wide, 5.6ins depth.
Staffordshire tureen with cover which features a hen on a basket, seated on an oval basketweave tureen base.
Jackfield black version. Dull gilt embellishment. Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.
Maker's marks painted to the underside.

Condition
Dish: Generally good. Bruise to outer rim.
Flake to flange.
Some rubbing to gilt.
RESTORATION: old filled chip to flange.
Cover: Generally good. Small chip to rim.
Paint losses to wattle, comb and markings to hen's back.
Slight rubbing to gilt.
RESTORATION: retouched chip to rim;
filled chip to top of beak.
