Staffordshire Pearlware 'Saint Paul' figure
pre-Victorian, circa 1820. 9.8ins high, 5.1ins wide, 3.9ins depth. Staffordshire pearlware bocage figure with a religious theme which features Saint Paul holding a sword and a book, seated on an oval base. The piece is titled, 'SAINT PAUL' .
Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.
Open bottomed.
Book reference not found.
Condition
Generally good.
Some small flakes to the edges of the book.
KILN EFFECTS: flecks of stray coloured glaze to the book, left hand,
robe,
feet
and flower;
small firing pit to next to tip of sword;
kiln grit caught in the glaze to the ground.
RESTORATION: Sword
and six bocage leaves remodelled.
Bocage is 60% original.
Retouched flake to nose.
