Pair Staffordshire No. 5 copper lustre spaniels

Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 6.5ins high, 4.3ins wide, 2.8ins depth.

Pair of Staffordshire figures which feature a spaniel, seated directly on the ground, no base.



Copper lustre embellishment. Decorated mainly to the front. Vent hole to the reverse.





Maker's marks no.5 molded into the underside.




Condition

Right facing: Good. No restoration. Small chip to underside of front left paw.



Small flake between front paws, front left paw and rear of left ear.







Some paint losses to one paw and nose.





KILN EFFECTS: touch marks to top of head and nose,





and to spaniel's back;



shrinkage crack to spaniel's back;



glaze miss to reverse;



some mildly stained crazing.





Left facing: Good. No restoration. Shallow chip to front left paw and to underside of other front paw.





Some paint losses to nose, left eye and paws.









Slight wear to rear of head.



KILN EFFECTS: stained crazing to the reverse;



shrinkage line to front right leg;



glaze miss to reverse.
