pre-Victorian, circa 1800. 8.5ins high, 5.5ins wide, 2.8ins depth. Staffordshire pearlware bust with a political theme which features Jean-Jacques Rousseau, resting on a plinth base.
The piece is titled, 'Roufeau' .
Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse. Open bottomed.

CONDITION: Generally good. Some small flakes to plinth.
KILN EFFECTS: faint shrinkage line along the mold join under his chin;
glaze pops to his shirt;
kiln soot caught in the glaze to his nose.
RESTORATION. Section of base reglued and join retouched.
