Pair Staffordshire poodle & pup figures
Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 7.1ins high, 4.6ins wide, 2.5ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire figures which feature a poodle and pup, seated on a cobalt blue base.
Dull gilt base line and embellishment. Decorated mainly to the front.
Vent hole to the reverse.
Maker's marks painted to the underside.
Condition
CONDITION:CONDITION: Right facing: Good. No restoration.
Some flaking to shredded clay.
Tiny flake to poodle's nose,
and a small flake to reverse.
Slight rubbing to gilt.
Slight wear to muzzle.
KILN EFFECTS: two glaze pops to the base front;
a few specks of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the upper base;
small firing hole above pup;
notable crazing.
Left facing: Good. No restoration.
Paint loss to poodle's nose.
Some rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: small firing hole to lower base edge at front;
a few specks of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the base and poodle's face;
craze lines to the reverse and poodle's back.
