Staffordshire hen on nest tureen
Victorian, circa 1860. 7.1ins high, 8.7ins wide, 6.3ins depth.
Staffordshire egg tureen and cover which features a hen, resting on a basketweave oval base.
Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.

Condition
Hen: Good. A few paint losses to comb.
KILN EFFECTS: over glazed chip to the rim;
touch mark to the left wing;
shrinkage line along the mold join.
RESTORATION. Retouched paint losses to ground and beak.
Nest: Good. Wear to interior.
KILN EFFECTS: kiln soot caught in the glaze to the rim.
RESTORATION. Filled chip and retouched flakes to rim and flange.
