Pair Staffordshire white & gilt spaniels

Victorian, circa 1890. Tallest is 9.3ins high, 7.3ins wide, 3.3ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire figures which feature a spaniel
with a parted fringe, seated directly on the ground, no base.



White and gilt version. Dull gilt embellishment.





Flatback, decorated only to the front.







Vent hole to the underside.

Condition

CONDITION: Right facing: Good.

Some small flakes and abrasions to the reverse.



Some rubbing to gilt.



KILN EFFECTS: staining to some of the crazing;









kiln grit caught in the glaze to the dog's left ear.



RESTORATION. Retouched paint losses to face



and paws.



Left facing: Generally good.

Gilt almost entirely rubbed away.



KILN EFFECTS: stained areas of crazing to the front;









flecks of stray coloured glaze to dog's ear and leg;







small firing pit to dog's head.



RESTORATION. Stabilised and retouched cracks to reverse,



head and right side of face.



Retouched paint losses to face



and paws.
