Small Pair Staffordshire leg free russet & white spaniels

Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 7.9ins high, 5.5ins wide, 4.7ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire figures which feature a spaniel, with both front legs free, seated directly on the ground, no base.





Russet and white version. Dull gilt embellishment. Decorated mainly to the front.
Vent hole to the underside.

CONDITION: Right facing: Good. No restoration. A few paint losses to the markings, left eye and nose.











Abrasions to the tail.



Rubbing to gilt.



KILN EFFECTS: stain to the head at reverse.



Left facing: Good. No restoration. Small chip to right front paw.



Small flake to lower base edge at reverse.



A few paint losses to the markings, eyes and muzzle.













Abrasions and wear to the tail.





Rubbing to gilt.



KILN EFFECTS: piece of kiln detritus caught inside causing piece to rattle; kiln soot caught in the glaze to the front and reverse.
