Pair Staffordshire stag & tiger spill vases

Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 7.6ins high, 6.9ins wide, 3.4ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire spill vases with a hunting theme
which feature a stag being hunted by a tiger, stood on a shaped base.



Multi-coloured version. Dull gilt base line.







Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.

Condition

CONDITION: Right facing: Generally good.

Slight rubbing to gilt.





KILN EFFECTS: kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the stag's right hind leg;



flecks of stray coloured glaze to the stag's stomach.



RESTORATION: Tiger's left paw



and stag's right antler remodelled.



Stag's muzzle reglued and join retouched (still slightly visible).





Stabilised and retouched hairline to stag's hind right ankle



and tiger's right paw.



Retouched paint losses to ground.









Left facing: Generally good.

A few paint losses to tiger.



Some rubbing to gilt.



KILN EFFECTS: kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the stag's hind quarters.



RESTORATION: Stag's right antler



and tiger's right front leg remodelled.



Stabilised and retouched hairline to stag's left front ankle.





Retouched paint losses to ground.
