Pair Staffordshire whippets with rabbit
Victorian, circa 1870. Tallest is 8.7ins high, 5.1ins wide, 3.1ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire figures which feature a whippet with a hare, seated on an oval base. Multi-coloured version. Bright gilt base line and embellishment.
Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.
Vent hole to the underside.

Condition
Right facing: Generally good. Small flake to top lip.
Some rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: touch mark to the whippet's back, muzzle and hare's neck;
piece of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to whippet's hind right leg.
RESTORATION: Filled chip to his left ear,
his right ear remodelled.
Filled chip to lower base edge.
Retouched flake to muzzle.
Left facing: Good. No restoration. Some rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage line to the whippet's back and down chest;
glaze miss to the front of the base;
flecks of stray coloured glaze throughout;
touch mark to the whippet's back.
