Pair Staffordshire No.3 Russet and White spaniels
Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 8.9ins high, 5.7ins wide, 3.7ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire figures which feature a spaniel,
seated directly on the ground, no base.
We think they have possibly been matched up together at some stage because they have significantly different markings.
Russet and white version.
Dull gilt embellishment. Flatback, decorated mainly to the front.
Vent hole to the reverse.
Maker's marks no.3 molded into the underside.
Book reference not found.
Condition
CONDITION: Right facing: Good.
Minor paint losses to chain
and ears.
Some rubbing to gilt.
RESTORATION. Retouched flakes to base edge.
Left facing: Good.
Some rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: flecks of stray coloured glaze to the face.
RESTORATION. Filled chips to base edge.
