Parr Staffordshire sailor's departure figure

Victorian, circa 1860. 11.8ins high, 5.7ins wide, 5.1ins depth. Parr Factory Staffordshire figure with a maritime theme which features a sailor departing for a voyage, stood in front of a tree, holding the hand of his girl, seated on a shaped base.



Bright gilt base line and embellishment. Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.



Vent hole to the underside. Maker's marks to the underside.

Condition

CONDITION: Good. Some small flakes to shredded clay.







KILN EFFECTS: touch marks to the reverse;



over glazed shrinkage lines to the tree.



RESTORATION. Retouched paint losses.
