Staffordshire spaniel & pups in wash basket figure group

Victorian, circa 1860. 5.7ins high, 5.6ins wide, 2.4ins depth. Staffordshire group which features a spaniel and her pups in a wicker wash basket, seated on an oval base.



Dull gilt base line and embellishment. Decorated mainly to the front.
Vent hole to the reverse.

Condition

CONDITION: Fair. Hairline across spaniel's lower back.



Small bruise to lower base edge at reverse.



Some small flakes to rim of wash basket,



spaniel's lower back and tail.





KILN EFFECTS: small firing hole to rim of wash basket and under spaniel's front leg.





RESTORATION: filled chips to base;









spaniel's nose crudely remodelled;





eyes repainted;



spaniel's head reglued and join retouched;







retouched paint losses to spaniel.
