Staffordshire Pearlware Large 'Bird Catcher' bocage figure
pre-Victorian, circa 1820. 12.8ins high, 5.5ins wide, 4.7ins depth. Staffordshire pearlware bocage figure with a occupational theme which features a bird catcher and a lady by a stream, seated on a square base.
The piece is titled, 'Bird Catcher' .
Multi-coloured version. Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse. Vent hole to the underside.
Condition
CONDITION: Generally good. Small flake to brim of man's hat and hem of coat.
KILN EFFECTS: touch mark to man's left shoulder;
kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the lady's back.
RESTORATION. Remodelled right forearm and left hand to lady, and head of bird.
Filled chips to leaves of bocage and one to sheep's left ear.
Retouched paint losses to man's hat and reverse of base.
