
William IV, dated 1831. 20ins high by 12.5ins wide. 1831 Floral Sampler by Ann Sharpe. Framed in an old wood frame with gilt slip and glass.
Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing.
The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches. Meandering floral border. Colours greens, navy blue, pale blue, dark brown, copper, gold and black.
Verse reads, 'Patient in fuffering with thy Lot content>And careful to Improve the Talents lent'.
Signed and dated 'Ann Sharpe Aged 9 Years 1831'.
A wonderful central motif of a floral bouquet with corn, surrounded by floral garlands.
CONDITION: Good. A few small holes to outer edges.
One patchy stain to the top section.
Minor stitch losses to the floral border.
Colours are slightly faded, but still well defined. No colour run. Stretching is very slightly uneven.
Frame in very good condition, ready to hang.
