1825 Scottish Motif Sampler by Euphemia Gibson

George IV, dated 1825. 17ins by 12ins wide. 1825 Scottish Sampler by Euphemia Gibson. Framed in a modern wood frame with gilt slip and glass.

Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing.

The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in cross stitch throughout. Simple embroidered border.

Colours gold, cream, blue, red, yellow, copper, pink and grey. Family initials.

Signed and dated 'Euphemia Gibson Aged 12 Years Kelso 28 July 1825. Kelso is a town in Scotland.

A good set of motifs, including birds, a swan, dogs, flowers, rabbits, fir trees, trees, crowns, potted flowering plants and hearts.

CONDITION: Generally Good. Two small holes.

A few patchy stains.

Colours are mostly good and strong with no noticeable fading. The silks bright and glossy.
