1840 House Sampler by Jane Mundy

Victorian, dated 1840. 15.25ins by 11ins wide. 1840 Sampler by Jane Mundy. Framed in an old wood frame with rippled, old glass. Loose mounted over a card with brown paper backing.

The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches.

Meandering floral border.

Colours gold, cream, blue, green, pink, brown and pink.

Signed and dated 'Jane Munday Aged 11 Years 1840'.

A good set of motifs, including a house with a garden, birds, fruit baskets, potted flowering plants and flowers.

CONDITION: Generally Good. No stains other than uniform age darkening of the ground.

Colours are slightly faded, but still well defined.

Unevenly stretched.

Frame showing slight wear, otherwise sound.
