Fixed to chipboard backing.
The sampler is worked in fine wool on linen ground, in a variety of stitches.
Meandering strawberry border.
Colours dark green, olive green, blue, red, white, black, pink, peach and lilac. Family initials.
Verse reads
'Behold how good a thing it is
and how becoming well
Together such as brethren are
in unity to dwell'.
Signed 'Elizabeth F??? ?ridge of ???'.
A good set of motifs, including a house with a garden, crowns, hearts, potted flowering plants and birds.
CONDITION: Generally Good. No holes. One patch of slight thinning to the ground.
Some pale patchy stains to the extreme top and bottom edges.
Some stitch losses to the border, the signature, motifs and letters.
Colours are slightly faded, but still well defined. No colour run. Unevenly stretched.
Frame in very good condition, ready to hang.
