1833 'Map of Scotland' Sampler by Margaret Hepburn

William IV, dated 1833. 20.25ins by 16ins wide. 1833 Sampler by Margaret Hepburn. Framed in an old wood frame with gilt slip and glass.

Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing.

The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches.

Simple embroidered border.

Colours gold, light brown, black, greens and blues.

Depicts a map of Scotland with surrounding Islands and Oceans.

Signed and dated

'Margaret. Hepburn. Perth. 1833'.

CONDITION: Generally Good.

No holes.

A number of pale stain specks.

Minor stitch losses to the motifs and borders.

Colours are mostly good and strong with no noticeable fading.

No colour run.

Stretching is slightly uneven.

Frame in very good condition, ready to hang.
