1831 Sampler with birds and fruit bowl by Rebecca Wilson

William IV, dated 1831. 20.75ins by 18.75ins wide. 1831 Sampler by Rebecca Wilson. Framed in an old wood frame with gilt slip and glass.

Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing.

The sampler is worked in a silk-like thread and fine wool on linen ground, in a variety of stitches.

Meandering floral border.

Colours light brown, cream, red, purple, light green, white and pink. Signed and dated

'Rebecca Wilson's Work Aged 10 Years AD 1831'.

A good set of motifs, some finely detailed, including flowers,

a fruit basket containing grapes and other fruit,birds and butterflies.

CONDITION: Good. A few holes and slight loss of ground to the top and bottom left corners.

A few patchy stains.

Some stitch losses to flower tendrils.

Colours are mostly good and strong with no noticeable fading. The silks bright and glossy. No colour run. Neatly and evenly stretched.

Frame in very good condition, ready to hang.
