1719 Lord's Prayer Sampler by Ann Grane

George I, dated 1719. 10.75ins by 7.5ins wide. 1719 Lord's Prayer Sampler by Ann Grane.

Framed in a modern wood frame with glass. Fixed to board with chipboard backing.

The sampler is worked in a silk-like thread on linen ground, in cross stitch and Algerian eye.

No border, divider lines in various patterns.

Colours red, pink, yellow and pale blue. Alphabets A-Z in upper case and numbers 1-9.

Inscription reads

'OUR FATHER WHICH ART IN HEAVEN

HALLOWED BY THY NAME.THY KING

DOM COME THY WILL BE DONE IN EAR

TH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN.GIVE US THIS

Signed and dated 'ANN GRANE OF BICKER' and 'ANN GRANE HER SAMPLER ANNO DOMANI 1719'. Bicker is a town in Lincolnshire, England.

CONDITION: Good. No holes. One small (<1cm) dark stain to the prayer section.

No stitch losses. Colours are slightly faded, but still well defined.

No colour run. Stretching is very slightly uneven.

Frame showing slight wear, otherwise sound.
