Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing.
The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches.
Meandering strawberry border.
Colours greens, cream, white, black, blues and red.
Verse entitled
'CONTENTMENT'
reads,
'Temper misfortunes ever with content,
So rightly use the life that heaven hath lent,
What tho' no gilded fret work mark your door,
Short is the time that levels rich and poor
Let none repine whatever woes enthral
He who made all things soon may alter all.'.

CONDITION: Generally Good.
A number of small holes and some loss of ground to the bottom edge.
No stitch losses other than to the holed areas.
Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading.
Some colour run around the green threads.
Neatly and evenly stretched.
Frame in very good condition, ready to hang.
