George III, dated 1799. 11.5ins by 10.5ins wide. 1799 Floral Bouquet Sampler by Ann Brumfield. Framed in an old wood frame with gilt slip and glass.

Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing.

The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches.

Meandering strawberry border.

Colours greens, yellow, pale blue, pink, lilac and browns.

Alphabets A-Z in upper case and numbers 1-10.

Signed and dated

'Ann Brumfield Ely 1799'. Ely is a town in England.

A good set of motifs, including a large bouquet of flowers tied with a ribbon,

birds,

potted flowering plants,

 

stags,

fruit baskets,

two smaller floral bouquets

and fir trees.

CONDITION: Fair.

A number of holes.

no stains other than slight uniform age darkening of the ground.

Stitch losses to the border,

motifs

and letters/numbers.

Colours are mostly good and strong with no noticeable fading.

The silks bright and glossy.

No colour run.

Stretching is very slightly uneven.

Frame in very good condition, ready to hang.
