
George III, dated 1796. 16.5ins high by 12ins wide. 1796 Verse Sampler by Elizabeth Infield. Framed in an old wood frame with gilt slip and glass.
Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing.
The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in cross stitch throughout.
Meandering floral border.
Colours greens, pale blue, gold, black, pink, brown and cream.
Verses read
'JESUS my all to heaven is gone
He whom I fix my hopes upon
His track I fee and Ill purfue
The narrow way till him I view'.

'Elizabeth Infield Aged Ten Years December the Second 1796'.
A good set of motifs, some finely embroidered, including flowers,
diamonds,
dogs,
birds,
stags,
deer,
fir trees,
crowns,
rabbits,
potted flowering plants,
robins
and squirrels
CONDITION: Good.
A few holes and losses to the top edge.
One stain to the right side.
No stitch losses other than to one of the holed areas.
Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading.
No colour run.
Stretching is very slightly uneven.
Frame in good condition, ready to hang.
