1811 Sampler by MA Cutting

George III, dated 1811. 17.25ins by 12.75ins wide. 1811 Sampler by MA Cutting.

Framed in an old wood frame with gilt slip and glass.

Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing.

The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in cross stitch throughout.

Meandering floral border.

Colours brown, red, pale blue, copper, blue and cream.

Inscription reads

'Remember thy Creator

in the days of thy

youth'.

Verse reads

'Son of God thy blessing grant

Still supply my every want

Tree of life thy influence shed

With thy sap my spirit feed'.

Signed and dated 'M A Cutting her work Finish'd Octr 14 1811'.

A good set of motifs, including angels playing trumpets, potted flowering plants, stags, squirrels, fir trees, birds and fruit baskets.

CONDITION: Good.

Some stitch losses to the border

and motifs.

Colours are slightly faded, but still well defined.

Neatly and evenly stretched.

Frame in good condition, ready to hang.
