Small Cunha Majolica Palissy spider plate
Victorian, circa 1890. 7.7ins high, 7.7ins wide, 2.4ins depth. Jose A Cunha Portuguese Palissy Majolica wall plate which features lizards, moths, grubs and a spider.
Colouration: green, ochre, brown, are predominant.
The piece bears maker's marks for the Jose A Cunha pottery.
Condition
CONDITION: Generally good.
Small chip to lizard's foot,
one moth's wing,
and tiny chips to shredded clay.
A few small chips to the foot rim.
Small flake to one lizard's eye
and one moth's antennae.
Slight wear to the high points of the molding.
RESTORATION: Remodelled head of one grub.
One lizard's foot reglued and join retouched
and other lizard's two front feet reglued and join retouched.
Spider's legs remodelled.
Filled chips to wings on one moth.
