Large Minton Majolica vintager figure

Victorian, circa 1864. 16.1ins high, 9.8ins wide, 8.3ins depth. Minton Majolica figural which features a vintager carrying two baskets. Colouration: cobalt blue, ochre, brown, are predominant.









The piece bears maker's marks for the Minton pottery. Marks include a factory specific date cipher for the year 1864.

Condition

CONDITION: Good. Small chip to rim of one basket.



Small flakes to edge of right boot.



KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage cracks to the basket handles;





fleck of stray coloured glaze to his right cheek;



shrinkage line to one basket.



RESTORATION. Filled chip to rim of one basket.
