Mafra Majolica Palissy cat in bonnet toothpick holder
Victorian, circa 1890. 4.5ins high, 3.1ins wide, 3.3ins depth. Mafra Portuguese Palissy Majolica toothpick holder which features a cat wearing a bonnet and shawl.
Colouration: cream, green, ochre, are predominant.
The piece bears maker's marks for the Mafra pottery.
Condition
CONDITION: Generally good. Small flakes to upper and lower base rim,
cat's left front paw and shawl.
KILN EFFECTS: glaze run to the ochre and brown glazes;
glaze miss to the cat's right front paw.
RESTORATION: Filled chips to base edge.
Minor retouched flakes to cat's bottom jaw, nose and bonnet.
