Wedgwood Majolica dolphin and shell oyster plate
Victorian, circa 1878. 8.8ins high, 9.2ins wide, 1.3ins depth.
Wedgwood Argenta Majolica oyster plate which features five dolphins resting between five shells.
Colouration: cream, grey, pink, are predominant.
The piece bears maker's marks for the Wedgwood pottery. Bears a pattern number, '2754'. English diamond registration mark for the date 24/05/1878.
Marks include a factory specific date cipher for the year 1878.
Condition
Very good. No restoration.
Slight wear to dolphins heads.
KILN EFFECTS: touch mark to two shells;
slight staining to a couple of shell and reverse;
glaze accumulation to centre well;
shrinkage crack to one dolphin head;
some flecks of stray coloured glaze.
