Holdcroft Majolica Jay & blackberries large vase

Victorian, circa 1870. 20.4ins high, 12.2ins wide, 11.8ins depth. Holdcroft Majolica vase which features a Jay bird
perched on a tree stump, with blackberries growing around it.



Colouration: brown, green, black, are predominant.

Condition

CONDITION: Good.

KILN EFFECTS: glaze miss in places to the bark;







slight glaze run to the brown glazes;







flecks of stray coloured glaze







and some shrinkage cracks to interior.



RESTORATION: remodelled lower beak;





left wing tip reglued and join retouched;





stabilised and retouched hairline to rim





and one to base rim at rear;



retouched flakes to rim and leaves;









stabilised and retouched crack to underside, running 3 inches (8cm) up rear of trunk.
