Large Mafra Majolica Palissy fish and eel wall plate

Victorian, circa 1890. 12ins high, 12ins wide, 3.3ins depth. Mafra Portuguese Palissy Majolica wall plate which features three fish,
two eels and two beetles.



Colouration: green, brown, grey, are predominant.

Condition

CONDITION: Good.

Some small flakes to shredded clay.







KILN EFFECTS: a few specks of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the fish and eels;







glaze accumulation to the underside of the base, which conceals the maker's mark.







RESTORATION. Remodelled ends of both eels.
