Holdcroft Majolica Blackberry cheese dome and stand
Victorian, circa 1870. 9.8ins high, 11.4ins wide, 11.4ins depth. Holdcroft Majolica cheese keep which features Blossoming branches and blackberries.
Colouration: brown, turquoise, green, are predominant.
The piece bears maker's marks for the Holdcroft pottery. Bears a pattern number, '16'.
Condition
CONDITION: Cover: Generally good. Flaking to berries, leaves, branches and blossom.
RESTORATION. Stabilised and retouched crack running from the base edge to half way up.
Filled chip to base edge.
Retouched flake to branch.
Stabilised hairline to side, visible to interior only.
Stand: Generally good. Chip to the foot rim.
Some small flakes to berries and leaves.
KILN EFFECTS: piece of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the interior;
glaze miss to the interior.
RESTORATION. Filled two chips to rim.
Retouched flakes to inner rim.
