Minton Majolica mushroom on log dish & cover
Victorian, circa 1870. 4.7ins high, 5.3ins wide, 3.1ins depth. Minton Majolica dish with cover which features a log shaped box, embellished with mushrooms, moss, ivy and insects.
Colouration: brown, green, puce, are predominant.
The piece bears maker's marks for the Minton pottery. Bears a pattern number, '1604'. English diamond registration mark for the date 10/11/1870.
Marks include a factory specific date cipher for the year 1870.
Condition
CONDITION: Cover: Good. KILN EFFECTS: over glazed shrinkage lines to the base of the mushroom.
RESTORATION. Filled chips to inner rim.
Retouched 2 flakes to rim.
Dish: Generally good. KILN EFFECTS: over glazed shrinkage line to the branch.
RESTORATION. Section to one end reglued and join retouched.
Filled chips to rim.
