Majolica hen and chicks tureen
Victorian, circa 1880. 6.7ins high, 10.6ins wide, 7.1ins depth.
Unidentified French Majolica egg tureen and cover which features a hen with her six chicks.
One of the chicks is perched on her back, the others peep out from underneath her.
Colouration: brown, cream, ochre, are predominant.
It is signed "G D Paris", "Depose" to the underside.
Book reference not found.
Condition
Cover: Good. Slight wear to rim.
KILN EFFECTS: craze lines to feathers.
RESTORATION. Filled chip and retouched bruise to her comb.
Base: Very good. No restoration.
KILN EFFECTS: flecks of stray coloured glaze to the interior;
craze lines to feathers and interior.
