Minton Majolica Elephant with Mahout Salt
Victorian, circa 1870. 5.5ins high, 5.9ins wide, 2.6ins depth.
Minton Majolica salt which features an elephant with mahout, the cover is in the form of a howdah.
Colouration: grey, grey, ochre, are predominant.
Bears a pattern number, '905'.

Condition
Elephant: Good. Two small flakes to beading on cloth.
KILN EFFECTS: a few specks of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the elephant;
kiln soot caught in the glaze to the cloth.
RESTORATION: filled chips to two feet.
Retouched flake to elephant's ear and rim.
Cover: Good. KILN EFFECTS: touch mark to the rim.
RESTORATION: filled chip to top rim,
chips to under rim and to inner rim.
