Pair Minton Hollins & Co. Majolica bird tiles

Victorian, circa 1870. 7.8ins high, 7.8ins wide, 0.5ins depth. Minton Hollins & Co. Majolica tile which features a bird perched on a fruiting branch and a bird in it's nest.



Colouration: lilac, brown, green, are predominant.







The piece bears maker's marks for the Minton Hollins & Co. pottery.

Condition

CONDITION: Tile 1: Good.

Small chips to the underside edges.







Wear to the high points of the molding.







KILN EFFECTS: a few glaze misses to edge of the white border;









glaze pops to the blue circular decorations;





kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the bottom edge.



RESTORATION: retouched flakes to outer rim.









Tile 2: Good. Small chips to the underside edges.









Wear to the high points of the molding.
