George Jones Majolica Diver sardine dish
Victorian, circa 1874. 4.7ins high, 6.1ins wide, 5.1ins depth. George Jones Majolica sardine box which features a diver with a fish in it's beak.
Fish, coral and seaweed to the base. Colouration: turquoise, brown, white, are predominant.
The piece bears maker's marks for the George Jones pottery. English diamond registration mark for the date 28/03/1874.

Condition
CONDITION: Cover: Good. KILN EFFECTS: small firing pit to ground;
a few specks of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the ground.
RESTORATION: Head of fish and tips of diver's beak remodelled.
Middle section of fish reglued and joins retouched.
Dish: Good. No restoration. Some small flakes and wear to the fish.
KILN EFFECTS: a few specks of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the interior;
flecks of stray coloured glaze to the coral and rim.
