Majolica Palissy toad figure

Victorian, circa 1890. 4.1ins high, 3.1ins wide, 1.6ins depth. Portuguese Palissy Majolica figural which features a toad.







Colouration: green, brown, ochre, are predominant.

Condition

CONDITION: Generally good. Slight wear to top and underside.









KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage crack to right foot and one also to left foot and leg;







flakes and kiln grit to the underside associated with hanging holes and stilt marks.





RESTORATION: Front left leg reglued and join retouched.



Filled and retouched chips and flakes to all four feet and flake to toad's bottom lip.
