Mafra Majolica Palissy insect & palm tree wall pocket
Victorian, circa 1890. 8.3ins high, 4.9ins wide, 2.6ins depth. Mafra Portuguese Palissy Majolica wall pocket which features palm leaves, a beetle and a moth.
Colouration: green, blue, brown, are predominant.
The piece bears maker's marks for the Mafra pottery.

Condition
CONDITION: Generally good. Some small flakes to shredded clay and finial.
KILN EFFECTS: a few specks of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to leaves and branch.
RESTORATION: Tip to one palm leaf reglued and join retouched.
Remodelled tip to other leaf and three legs to beetle.
