Large Elias Majolica Palissy Sweet Chestnut wall plate
Victorian, circa 1890. 13.5ins high, 13.5ins wide, 2.1ins depth. Elias Portuguese Palissy Majolica wall plate which features sweet chestnuts in their outer shells. Colouration: green, blue, brown, are predominant.
The piece bears maker's marks for the Elias pottery.

Generally good.
Some small flakes to shredded clay,
rim
and edges to leaves.
KILN EFFECTS: a few specks of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the front
and under rim;
glaze pops to the under rim;
part over glazed chip with associated crack to the foot rim.
RESTORATION: remodelled stem to one leaf;
stabilised and retouched crack and a hairline to the rim;
