Minton Majolica hare & mallard game pie dish and cover
Victorian, circa 1858. 7.5ins high, 13.8ins wide, 8.7ins depth. Minton Majolica game pie dish which features a hare,
mallard and blackbird on a bed of fern and oak leaves.
Colouration: green, brown, turquoise, are predominant.
The piece bears maker's marks for the Minton pottery.
Marks include a factory specific date cipher for the year 1858.

CONDITION: Cover: Generally good.
KILN EFFECTS: glaze run to the black glaze;
uneven glaze application to the underside.
RESTORATION. Small filled chips to rim,
handle,
ventral oak leaf
and wing tip to the mallard
and black bird.
Retouched flake to black bird's chest,
hare's ear and body
and oak leaf to rim.
Dish: Generally good.
Some small flakes to oak leaves.
KILN EFFECTS: flecks of stray coloured glaze to the interior;
glaze run to the green and brown glaze.
RESTORATION. One handle reglued and joins retouched.
Three filled chips to inner rim.
Minor retouched flakes to feet
and handle.
