Holdcroft Majolica pond lily cheese dome & stand

Victorian, circa 1880. 8.5ins high, 10ins wide, 10ins depth. Holdcroft Majolica cheese keep which features fern fronds, and pond lily leaves and flowers.



Colouration: green, white, brown, are predominant.

Condition

CONDITION: Cover: Generally good.

Flake to fern leaf and flakes to the interior around vent holes.





KILN EFFECTS: glaze run to the green glaze;







kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the rim.



RESTORATION. Stabilised and retouched crack to the rim.





Filled chips and flakes to finial.









Base: Good. No restoration.

Staining and light scratches from use.





KILN EFFECTS: glaze miss to the interior;





flecks of stray coloured glaze to the interior.
