George Jones Majolica sardine box which features fish and seaweed.
Pink ground version. Colouration: green, ochre, pink, are predominant.

Condition
Cover: Generally good. Some small flakes to rim.
KILN EFFECTS: glaze miss to one fish and ground below;
lid slightly warped and therefore does not sit perfectly flush on the base.
RESTORATION. Corner of rim reglued and join retouched.
Filled chip to under rim.
Retouched flake to gills on one fish.
Dish: Good. Some small flakes to rim and inner rim.
KILN EFFECTS: glaze accumulation to the foot rim;
flecks of stray coloured glaze to the interior.
RESTORATION. Stabilised and retouched hairline to inner rim.
Retouched flake to inner rim.
