Large Staffordshire 'Milk Sold Here' cow spill vase

Victorian, circa 1860. 14ins high, 13.2ins wide, 3.9ins depth. Staffordshire spill vase which features a cow, stood on an oval base. The piece is titled, 'MILK SOLD HERE' . Russet and white version. Dull gilt title and embellishment.



Flatback, decorated mainly to the front.

Condition

Good. No restoration.

Shallow chip to hind right hoof.



Small flake to right horn.



Some paint losses to the leaves,



spill rim,



cow's markings





and eyes.



Rubbing to gilt.





KILN EFFECTS: a few specks of kiln grit caught in the glaze to the base;



flecks of stray coloured glaze to the base;





small, over glazed chip to the lower base edge.
