Staffordshire Pearlware Deer figure
pre-Victorian, circa 1820. 5.1ins high, 6ins wide, 3.2ins depth. Staffordshire pearlware figure which features a recumbent deer, seated on an oval base.
Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.
Open bottomed. Maker's marks painted to the underside.
Book reference not found.
Condition
Generally good.
Two chips and some small flakes to the lower base edge.
Two small flakes to deer's neck
and a couple to the front knees.
A few paint losses to the ground
and deer's body.
KILN EFFECTS: glaze pops to the ground;
small firing pit behind deer's hind right leg.
RESTORATION: both ears remodelled.
