Large Staffordshire Pearlware Madonna & child figure

pre-Victorian, circa 1800. 12.6ins high, 6.7ins wide, 7.5ins depth. Staffordshire pearlware figure with a religious theme which features the Madonna and Child, seated on a marbleised base.





Multi-coloured version. Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.





Open bottomed.

Condition

CONDITION: Good. Small chip to her shoe.



Some small flakes to corners of the base and child's hair.









Wear to the reverse.



KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage crack to her skirt and to underside;





firing hole to the end of child's finger.



RESTORATION: Retouched flake to her right hand, child's hands, shawl and head scarf.
